Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.
Recommended prerequisites (modules):
None.
Recommended as prerequisite for:
Module coordinator:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ahmad Osman
Lecturer: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ahmad Osman

Learning outcomes:
This module covers advanced methods in artificial intelligence, with a focus on generative AI and risk-aware intelligent systems.
After successfully completing this module, students will:
•        be able to analyze and implement advanced neural architectures in practice,
•        understand and be able to use generative models (for example: GANs, diffusion models, transformer architectures, large language models (LLMs)),
•        be able to distinguish between and quantify aleatory and epistemic uncertainties in AI systems,
•        be able to perform model calibration and confidence estimation,
•        be able to evaluate intelligent systems under realistic operational conditions (domain shift, data scarcity, regulatory requirements),
•        be able to integrate risk-based decision-making mechanisms and human-in-the-loop concepts,
•        be able to model industrial use cases in a structured way and develop AI solutions ready for deployment.
The module combines modern generative AI with uncertainty modeling, decision theory, and industrial implementation.
