Learning outcomes:
Modules French 1 and French 2 provide a framework through which students can develop their French language skills to B1/B2 level for academic and professional contexts. Students become aware of different living and working environments, recognise difficulties and conflicts in intercultural communication situations and can draw conclusions about their own behaviour based on these insights. They are sensitive to different language registers and can communicate effectively in job-specific situations, both orally and in writing. They are familiar with the differences in job application processes in Francophone countries and can prepare application materials in French that are appropriate in terms of form, content and language. They can also apply strategies for job interviews.

[updated 10.07.2026]

− The French political system and professional life
− Making phone calls in a professional context
− Emails and business letters
− The job application process (job postings, CVs, job interviews)
In addition:

− Review of relevant grammatical structures
− Vocabulary

Teaching methods/Media:
Teaching and learning materials are tailored to specific target groups. As teaching and learning become increasingly digitised, interactive digital materials are made available more frequently through the learning management system and are integrated into classroom instruction as part of a blended learning approach. In exceptional circumstances, video conferencing systems can also be used instead of traditional in-person instruction.

Recommended or required reading:
A list of recommended learning materials will be made available in the learning management system at the start of the semester.
